The recommended sleep duration for different age groups

Sleep is an important component of good health. Obtaining sufficient good quality sleep every night is critical for proper mental and physical functions as well as general well-being. The lack of sleep can even cause weight gain! In infants, children and teens, sleep also plays a pivotal role in supporting growth and development. The recommendation by the National Sleep Foundation pertaining to the sleep duration for various age groups is as listed below:
