Nipah virus (NiV) encephalitis is an emerging infectious disease of public health importance in the WHO South-East Asia Region. Bangladesh and India have reported human cases of Nipah virus encephalitis.
In the recent week, as Nipah virus outbreak has been reported in India leaving several dead including a nurse, preventing the spread of Nipah virus is key to curb the virus. To date there is still no drug or vaccine specific to NiV infection.
